Raz Binyamini

Dr. Raz Binyamini has been the Music Director of the Chamber Music Center at the Israel Conservatory of Music, Tel-Aviv, since 2007, where he has been collaborating with leading ensembles and musicians from Israel and overseas, and establishing the Center as one of the most important musical institutions in Israel. He holds a PhD in musicology from the Tel-Aviv University, where he wrote his dissertation – an interdisciplinary study of 16th-century Venetian Music in its social, political, religious, literary and artistic contexts. He was a faculty member of the Musicology Department at the Tel-Aviv University and the General Studies Unit at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya. In recent years he has been a jury member in music competition in his country, such as the Chamber Music Competition of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, the Aviv Competition of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and “Piano Forever” competition in Ashdod. Since 2015 he serves also as the Artistic Coordinator of Musethica Israel, an international program that nurtures young excellent musicians through community concert playing. A program he found as the ideal context for promoting the next generation of excellent young Israeli musicians and making a significant change in the local socio-cultural scene.
